The Veterinary Sustainability Alliance (VSA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to safeguarding animal and human health by advancing sustainability across the veterinary profession. Founded in 2022, VSA emerged to address a well-recognized gap: veterinary professionals—including clinicians, technicians, students, and support staff—are deeply concerned about climate change and environmental degradation, yet often feel unprepared to act due to limited training and a lack of centralized, accessible resources.

VSA operates as a binational nonprofit in both the United States and Canada, sharing tools, knowledge, and community because our challenges—and our opportunities—are more alike than different. By bringing together private practitioners, academics, industry partners, and students, and by collaborating with colleagues in human health, VSA works to strengthen the profession’s capacity to respond to environmental change and protect the health of animals, people, and the planet.
